Resources for your circle

Useful actions for today, whether you are learning at home, supporting students, or bringing a community together. Start small, listen first, and keep dignity at the center.

Start with the people around you

Girls and young people

  • Choose a trusted adult you can approach privately with questions.
  • Learn the instructions for the products available to you, and ask for help when you need it.
  • Respect your own and others' privacy. Nobody owes the group their personal story.

Parents and caregivers

  • Start a calm, age-appropriate conversation before questions become urgent.
  • Listen without teasing or treating menstruation as shameful.
  • Make products and a way to ask for support available discreetly.

Schools and educators

  • Identify a trusted point of contact and a private way to request supplies.
  • Discuss washroom access, water, and appropriate disposal with students and staff.
  • Use public educational resources without requesting personal disclosures.

Community groups and workplaces

  • Ask the community what support would actually be useful.
  • Choose a small, clear activity: a conversation, awareness session, or proposed drive.
  • Agree product needs and logistics before collecting or distributing supplies.

School Dignity Starter

  • Name a trusted adult students can reach privately.
  • Place products discreetly where students can get them.
  • Hold age-appropriate conversations that include allies.
  • Ask the school's permission before any product drive.

Plan a local conversation or drive

  1. 1. Listen and define the need

    Ask local participants what would help. Agree the audience, a trusted host, and a respectful purpose.

  2. 2. Check practical details

    Confirm product preferences, storage, distribution, permissions, and privacy before announcing a collection.

  3. 3. Talk with OAM

    Email Kate about your community and request drive-planning guidance. Materials and any partnership requirements are discussed directly.

The OAM Project is not yet a registered 501(c)(3). Funds are managed personally by Katherine Noel for the annual OAM campaign and go directly to Anne Ethel Komlaga's program in Ghana. Donations are not tax-deductible at this time.
